ABS Tips

Anti-lock Brake (ABS) - Not to be confused with your standard brake system, anti-lock brakes utilize electronic speed and wheel sensors to sense one or more wheels locking up in a hard stop or on slippery road conditions avoiding skidding and out of control braking. Your anti-lock brakes will be disabled when your ABS light is on and that safety feature will not work but your regular brake system should still work properly (as long as your Brake light is not on).  If the brake warning light also comes on while the ABS light is on, it signals a serious problem and your vehicle may not be safe to drive. The entire brake and ABS system should be inspected immediately to determine the nature of the problem. Anti-lock brake service should only be performed by qualified technicians and also must be diagnosed and reset using a computer.
